Biography
North Dakota band KNIFESMOKE were forged in the desolate frozen prairies over a bitter winter, Paul Voorheis’s molten, sludge-filled riffs are tempered by Courtney Voorheis’s smoky, soulful vocals, KNIFESMOKE blends the genres of sludge, doom, blues, and heavy-psyche into a menacing, primal force.
For the new album, ‘Omens’ KNIFESMOKE wrote throughout a 2023 marred by sickness and hospital visits. Out of the songwriting sessions, “The Shape of Things to Come,” “Witch-Cult,” “Occult Divination” and the stoner anthem “Dave's Not Here Man” emerged as the heaviest tracks, while the tongue-in-cheek humor of “Satanic Mechanic” shows the playful side of KNIFESMOKE.
